Establishing a disciplined marketing planning process backed up with one-to-one coaching support

What was the problem?

As Emery Little’s promotional activity continued to develop, they needed to establish in-house marketing expertise. But bringing their strategy to life required more than just hiring talent: it needed clear direction, practical planning, and ongoing support. The team needed help cutting through the noise and distractions to focus on the activities that would genuinely support their growth strategy, while ensuring their new marketing team member could hit the ground running.

Our approach

We focused on three areas with the Emery Little team

  1. First to identify specific activities that will drive their growth strategy and create focus.

  2. Second, establish a quarterly planning cycle that turns strategy into practical action: agreeing clear objectives, detailing  the activity the team will pursue and identifying the conditions needed to succeed.

  3. Third, providing hands-on coaching for the team and their new marketing team member.This includes one-to-one sessions with their marketing so they could apply learning and build experience and confidence while working on live projects.

The result

The quarterly planning cycle has created clarity, momentum and accountability. We meet in person to track progress, review performance and confirm activity for the next three months. Between these quarterly sessions, we meet online fortnightly to focus on  issues and track progress.

The results speak for themselves. The team has made real progress, committed to key decisions on their proposition for the next generation of clients, and established a clear prospecting budget and approach.

Most importantly, they now have the strategic clarity and internal capability to sustain their growth.

The hands-on support has helped build marketing experience and confidence in day-to-day decision-making.
